He was born in 1938 in Khabarovsk. The world-famous artist, People's Artist of Russia, laureate of the State Prize, honorary citizen of the Khabarovsk city. He lives with his family in Khabarovsk (despite numerous offers to work in Moscow). He works in the genre of watercolors, mosaics. Gennagiy illustrates the books of Far Eastern (and not only) writers. His huge (12 m2) mosaic painting “The Poem about the Amur River Region” (1979) established in the Government of the Khabarovsk Territory is widely known. He is the author of several icons for the Orthodox churches of the Far East.

Among his works, there are illustrations for the books “Amur Fairy Tales”, “Alenushka's Tales”, “Golden Rigma”, “Amazing Beasts”, “The Last Leopard”, “In the Northern Jungle”, etc. A surprising combination of extreme realism, thoroughness, and detalization of everything depicted whether it be trees, people or animals, with a special picturesqueness, decorativeness, colorfulness of painting creates a fascinating impression.
He is the laureate of the State Prize of the RSFSR named after N. K. Krupskaya (1979), was awarded the highest prize of “Golden Apple” at the international exhibition in Bratislava (1976), the gold medal of the international exhibition in Leipzig (1977).
