Our compatriot skater Ivan Skobrev who has won in Vancouver silver and bronze medals becomes the Russian national team standard-bearer on the solemn ceremony of the XXI Winter Olympic games closing on February, 28.
Alexey Kravtsov, the president of the Russian skaters Union, informed the mass media representatives about it. He noted also: «Such decision was accepted by the Russian Olympic team management and it was quite righteous. Ivan Skobrev was capable to become an example for many Russian sportsmen of different kinds of sport. One year prior to Olympic games, having got tired of the fourth and fifth places, he decided to change everything resolutely. He worked hardly and arduously, as a result he had won silver and bronze in Vancouver. The most important thing is that he is not going to limit himself. We hope that Ivan Skobrev will win gold during the following Olympic games of 2014 in Sochi».
